Re: Bilic in for the long haul...
He can't become a Wenger or Fergie until he stops being tactically naive. Putting players in out of sentiment - like today. No way would they have started with Carroll - and kept Collins in the line up. That may have worked last week but play your best team for fucks sake.

Re: Bilic in for the long haul...
I think bilic will end up as England manager, maybe not after the euros as the FA clearly are obsessed with the idea of Brendan Rodgers but after that.

Re: Bilic in for the long haul...
I have probably been loyal, verging to a fault, with managers in the past so I would love if our growth matches his ambition and obviously our results match those of the owners to the point that this is possible.

Not likely in today's football but who cares. Dare to be different.

I mean first choice Moyes and second choice Benitez

Re: Bilic in for the long haul...
I think Klopp or Emery could have done a job or do you just mean Benitez?

Re: Bilic in for the long haul...
The owners are more loyal to managers than most clubs and the fans love him so if success comes then why not.

I'm just so please the owners didn't get who they actually wanted and 'made do' with Super Slav

Dont worry about it mate - just amused me.

Re: Bilic in for the long haul...
oh, and were not going to turn on a manager just because we had a season without a trophey.

Be nice, but not the be all or end all, like it seems to be in Manchester, Liverpool or other parts of London.

Re: Bilic in for the long haul...
LJC, on the one hand i get what your saying but on the other, im a bit WTF!

the point is aim high, but for a good majority of our fans, well maybe the long term ones at least, is that as long as we are giving it a go, playing good entertaining football, then most of us are happy, UNLIKE some of our neighbours.

Re: Bilic in for the long haul...
Sydney the quote was in context? I took out what i didnt feel was unrealistic and kept in the bit that tied in with you saying we had realistic fans. There is nothing wrong with dreaming but saying we are realistic and then saying give me a title, CL and cup final/wins is not being realistic at this point in time.

Re: Bilic in for the long haul...
I think we need to stop getting carried away.

We're only 10 games in!!

It's great we've started so well and that Bilic has brought back some pride to the club. I really hope it lasts and he has a successful season to take us into the new stadium.

But let's enjoy with some cautious optimism.

Re: Bilic in for the long haul...
Indeed LJC, but put the quote in context, as i would be the first to agree, that sounds a tad hypocritical and delusional.

You forgot, the 'Give me an entertaining side to watch, with passion and pride'

oh, and whats so wrong with dreaming of a title, unlike the likes of Chelsea or either Manc club, its not expected?

Would be great in he stayed that long, big plus is the fans (in general) and the owners don’t have unrealistic ambitions like the so called “Big” clubs.

Give me a cheeky a league title now and then! and a CL season now and then, a Cup win...

Re: Bilic in for the long haul...
Biggest obstacle to this happening is a foreign investor coming in and demanding instant (and then constant) success.... hope the Daves and Slav carry on for years though.

Re: Bilic in for the long haul...
Would be great in he stayed that long, big plus is the fans (in general) and the owners don’t have unrealistic ambitions like the so called “Big” clubs, any of the usual suspects finish outside the top 4 or don’t have a least a cup win/final, then the manager is shit and the board are considering a replacemt, Klopp, a bit like LVG may get a bit of grace but odds on the expectation is still top 4 or “he’s shit”, Man City though anything but a title and the manager is lucky to keep his job, they quickly forget the titles the manager did win them, then there’s Chelsea, who seem to have brought in how many so called top level managers in the past few years? Yet at the first hint of a bad patch or a dip in form and there booted out, just look at Jose currently, looks a dead man walking especially if he fails against Liverpool.

Give me an entertaining side to watch, passion and pride with a Top half of the table finish or to be cheeky a league title now and then! (well we got win ONE at least, never happened before but before I die, that’s one thing on the list beforehand) and a CL season now and then, a Cup win or at least a decent run every few years and I bet most life long West Ham fans would be more than happy, in fact delirious.

Loving the optimism and am as big a Bilic fan as anyone, but let's see where we are after 20 games this season before we start thinking 20 years ahead.

Re: Bilic in for the long haul...
Certainly hope he is in for the long haul as the man oozes quality and was a brilliant appointment by the owners.
